Minli lives in a poor village at the foot of Fruitless Mountain, and she is tired of watching her family work the dry fields with nothing to show for it, so she spends her only two coins on a goldfish that is supposed to be magic. She sets off to find the Old Man of the Moon and ask him how to change her family's fortune, and along the way she meets a dragon who cannot fly.
