The Boxcar Children

Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny are four orphans on their own, and the one thing they want is to stay together instead of being sent to a grandfather they've never met and are sure they won't like. They find an abandoned boxcar in the woods and start turning it into a home, with a cracked pink cup, a swimming-pool brook, and a stray dog who follows them back.
