Violet invents things, Klaus reads everything he can get his hands on, and baby Sunny bites — and after a fire takes their parents, the three Baudelaires are shipped off to a distant relative named Count Olaf. Olaf has a house full of dust, one lumpy bed for all three of them, and a very clear interest in the fortune their parents left behind.
